Passiflora cirrhiflora ordering info

Passiflora cirrhiflora is maybe one of if not the most highly sought passionflower in cultivation. Although it is not the rarest (that would likely be Passiflora parritae as it is nerly extinct with only one individual left on earth that will not set seed), it is definitely "the holy grail of passionflowers" to collectors.

A native of south America, this passionflower needs consitently warm temperatures to thrive and likes good air circulation. We have been casually searching for it for several years and in 2007 I spent about 15 days trying to locate it internationally in a somewaht serious way and now I have 2-4 plants on their way here for June 2007 or thereabouts. We will be taking an interest list with a priority given to those with facilities to care for this somewhat tempermental passionflower. We would like to place a few in botanical gardens but will also release a few for sale in order to pay for the cost of obtaining this very rare plant. As we will be one of only maybe 5 places in the world to have one and the only one in the US to have one (besides a certain Univeristy who won't even return anyone's emails about the plant or make it available to other gardens which pretty much ensures the plant's demise in the US), we would like to make sure that we find at least one other place to stash this plant where it will be safe in case our mother plant goes south. We will ask that you not sell the plant for a set length of time so that we can use the proceeds from cirrhiflora to fund our work here.

If you are interested in being considered for a cirrhiflora placement, please email eleonor.england@gmail.com and explain who you are (collector, Just A Guy, Botanical Garden, etc) and your familiarity with this plant's care requirements and if you have the ability to provide for its needs. It's OK if you are not 100% familiar as no one in the US is but just give some background so we have an idea about your set up and skill level. If you do not have the set up for one, maybe you can have your local botanical gardens contact us.
