Worsleya procera (aka Worsleya rayneri) Empress of Brasil, Blue Amaryllis
We now have Worsleya procera/Worsleya rayneri available for the spring in 2007. Get your
order in early before the botanical gardens get them all. Worsleya procera/Worsleya rayneri is
the same plant but two different scientific names (it got named twice!). It is nearly extinct in the
wild and our Worsleya procera/Worsleya rayneri have been captive bred and not gathered from the
wild. Worsleya procera/Worsleya rayneri is from ONE hill in Brasil. See why they are going
extinct? And are highly sought. Order yours today for April delivery via Priority mail or Express mail.
NOTE: We are having a delay in shipping some orders due to the extended recent heatwave and the heat-sensitivity of some of our plants. Thanks for your understanding.
Open to Public
We are open to the public once per month on the 1st Saturday of the month and have more selections available there than through mail order- check our cash and carry website out

The incomparable Passiflora parritae, one of the rarest flowers in the world
Passiflora parritae is rare because it is very difficult to grow from cuttings and because The Last Plant On Earth
(allegedly) was plowed under for a raod or something. Only one plant is known in
cultivation now and it does nto set fruit from itself or pollen from it's clones so...
My favourite vine, may favourite passiflora, the buds and open flowers of Passiflora parritae are equally beautiful.
Passionflower (Passiflora parritae) sold out - reservations strongly recommended - email for details.

Deppea splendens, nearly extinct mexican shrub
- a young plant struggling at Strybing Arboretum
*stunning* camera phone capture! I got a new camera
though so stay tuned! I find these platns easy to grow
but they do not tolerate frost and are extinct in nature
so preserve what we have and bring your plant in or
cover it during a frost.
Deppea splendens, my mother plant
which is the 'Cristobal' strain.
Notice the texturized irridescent
leaves. This thing is gorgeous
even out of flower. Cloud Forest.
SHRUBS/MEDIUM SIZE PLANTS TO 6'
Deppea splendens var 'Cristobal' ---- 15'-25' (expect 8' or maybe a bit more in most US gardens)
Deppea splendens is extinct in Nature - aka: Golden Fuchsia
One of the rarest plants on the planet, Deppea splendens is from the Chiapas mountains originally and is a relative of coffee.
Amazing chiapas Deppea splendends likes the cooler weather and grows great in shade. Deppea splendens full sun but part sun is great.
All Deppea splendens pants in cultivation today originate from seed collected by Dr. Breedlove in 1881. When he returned to the spot, formerly the only known stand of these plants, they had (you guessed it) the remaining Deppea splendense had been bulldozed to make way for Some Important Thing.
Leaves of Deppea splendens are lush and textured and it makes a great foilage plant when it is not in bloom. See Image form UCLA Deppea splendens
Deppea splendens blooms late summer with bright yellow flowers from red sepals. One of the most stunning, showstopping shrubs a girl could want (or a boy for that matter)...
Deppea splendens is unavailable in the trade - has been offered by several nurseries but time and time again has been relegated to indefinitely "temporary unavailable"
I will be propogating Deppea splendens on request - half down by check to be cashed when your plant roots. Remainder due just before shipment. Estimated wait: 6 weeks.
4" pot (starter) Deppea splendens - $150 includes shipping
Ours available in August 2006 - they are starts that will likely by in large 4" pots or gallons. We'll have one only after our wait list clears. These are going for over $200 on ebay. Ebay...seriously.
Impatiens var 'African Queen' ----
Impatiens 'African Queen' is hard to get in the industry to my understanding. I scored on recently and we'll have them in the autumn for our plant sale and maybe for mail order after that.
I dunno much about 'African Queen' Impatiens except the flowers are stunningly coloured and the plant we progoated from was covered in them!
Price will be determined by the going rate and difficulty in propogation - we'll post the price in June
Angel's trumpet 'arborea' sold out
Night fragrant - good fragrance
Pretty rare
Blooms are white and very small for a Brugmansia - hang downwards like bells
Small tree or large bush
Needs lotsa iron
This is a very special Brug. It is a species plant and has a vanilla-like fragrance from small night-fragrant flowers. the flowers are very unusual looking and seem to almost have petals because they are not all the way fused the way other brugs are. This is a stunning flower with great fragrance and I didn't hafta sleep with someone smelly to get it but I WOULD have...(don't tell the guy I got it from...)
4" pot (starter) - SOLD OUT
TREES/LARGE PLANTS
see also shrubs above - some are kinda between these two categories or in both

Well-established 1 foot tall plant - has bloomed already $125
Cultivar: Ammaron's Curly White available - 1 plant only
Likes warmth
Outrageously rare and almost impossible to obtain - this cultivar is said to not be available commercially and has a long-petaled flower that hangs down and curls gently - very unusual and very pretty. So rare I ALMOST had to have sex with someone smelly to get it. See the extra mile I go for you guys?
Drought resistant - likes heat, does best if humidity is present though (you know, like here)

SPECIAL REQUESTS
Is there something we should carry? We do take suggestions for plants to track down and make available.
We tend to want to do this for plants that are endangered and rare. If your candidate is one of the rarest plants
in the world, that sounds like our bag! Let us know and we wil ask around and if we think it can be done &
will help save the plant from extinction,
we will track it down and make it available if it's in our power. We have done this, for instance,
with Deppea splendens and Passiflora parritae. Run it by us, if it's endangered (or just rare and interesting),
we might be able to get it faster than you think (faster than we think in some cases!).
TRADES
Although we don't often do trades, we will for these plants (if you wonder, shoot an email over with what you got):
